Research and analysis: Trust and confidence in the Charity Commission 2015

The Charity Commission commissioned Populus to conduct independent research into trust and confidence in the commission. The research was conducted with 3 audiences: the general public, charities and key stakeholders.

This is the first time that the charity regulator has commissioned a full research report into trust and confidence in it. The research objectives were to:

  • establish attitudes towards the commission and charity regulation
  • explore the effectiveness of the commission’s relationship with charities and other key stakeholders
  • explore the impact of charity regulation on charities in England and Wales

The findings are based on 1,001 telephone interviews with the general public, 1,131 online interviews with charities, and 22 in-depth telephone interviews with key stakeholders.
